The Modern shed, the original urban style.
What brought you here today?
A single-slope roof and clean lines, at standard wall height for storage or on taller walls with a row of transom windows for a workshop. It is the design that started the urban style shed, and it is built in your yard, not on a lot.

Modern
Single-slope roofA single-slope roof on standard-height walls, with one window. The lowest roofline of the four.

Tall Modern
Single-slope roofThe single-slope roof on a taller front wall, with a row of transom windows under the eave. The windows sit above shelf height, so the walls stay free for shelving, and the height leaves room for a loft.
Plan a workshop shedDesign this style in 3DThe Modern is the Urban Sheds original. Customers started calling it the urban style shed because it sits right in a city lot or a modern suburb, and the name stuck across the industry. Some call it a mid-century shed; it is the same roofline, and this is the page for it.
Two versions. The Modern, at standard wall height with a standard window, for the 6x8 to 10x10 storage sizes. The Tall Modern, on taller walls with the transom row up high, for the 10x12 to 12x20 workshop sizes, with room for a loft.
Either way the frame is the same: 16-inch centers, a double top plate, 2x6 rafters and headers, a pressure-treated floor, LP SmartSide or cedar siding, and the 30-year structural warranty that transfers once to the next owner.
Every size, in this roofline.
Storage sizes are at standard wall height and workshop sizes on taller walls; each size page has the floor plan and your local price.
Framed like a house.
Every shed is framed on 16-inch centers with 2x6 rafters and a pressure-treated floor, and carries a 30-year structural warranty, transferable once to the next owner of your home.

Questions people ask us.
Storage shed or workshop shed?
Storage sheds are the smaller sizes, 6x8 to 10x10, at standard wall height: extra storage in a small space, for the mower, the bikes, the bins and the patio set. Workshop sheds are the larger sizes, 10x12 to 12x20, on taller walls: room for big items like a riding mower, or room to be inside at a bench with a project. The taller wall is what makes a 4-foot loft above and a row of transom windows up high work so well. Both are framed the same way, with the same siding and the same 30-year structural warranty, transferable once to the next owner. The difference is size and wall height. If the list is mostly yard gear and bins, it is a storage shed; if a riding mower, a bench, or you are going in, it is a workshop.
Is my shed brand new?
Always. It doesn't exist until your build day: the lumber and siding arrive fresh from the supplier and your shed goes up in your yard. It has never sat on a lot, ridden on a trailer, or waited for a buyer, and your warranty starts the day it's finished.
What's the warranty?
Three warranties. Your builder covers his workmanship for the first year and comes back to fix anything that is not right. Urban Sheds covers the structure for 30 years as long as the shed gets about an hour of upkeep a year (we publish the checklist), and that warranty transfers once to the next owner of your home if the form is filed within 60 days of the sale. LP covers the SmartSide siding for 50 years. If your craftsman ever leaves the network, Urban Sheds connects you with another certified craftsman. For a claim, your builder answers within five business days; if you cannot reach him in ten, warranty@urban-sheds.com assigns another certified craftsman within five.
