About Urban Sheds
How something is made matters.
Urban Sheds is a design and standards company and a network of licensed local craftsmen. Every shed is stick-built onsite by one builder, in the yard it stands in, and backed by Urban Sheds for 30 years.
Something worth having. Work worth doing.
Homeowners deserve a building made for their yard. Craftsmen deserve work they are proud of and customers they know by name. Urban Sheds brings the two together, one shed at a time.
Ownership
Every builder in the network runs his own business, in his own community, under his own name. The name on your contract is the name on the truck.
Craftsmanship
House-grade framing on 16-inch centers, 2x6 rafters and headers, a pressure-treated floor, LP SmartSide siding. The same spec in every yard.
Creativity
Built onsite, a shed is not limited to what fits on a trailer. Size, doors, windows, a loft, the color of the door: your call, priced line by line.
Connection
One builder is your one point of contact, quote to walkthrough. Urban Sheds stands behind him, and behind you, for 30 years.

The factory shed is a leftover.
Jeremy Horning spent twenty-five years in the shed industry, thirteen of them running a mass-production shed shop, before starting Urban Sheds.
Not so long ago, a backyard shed was built onsite by a local craftsman. The industrial era changed that, in sheds as in almost everything else. The focus shifted to low cost, speed and efficiency, and for its time that model worked. It brought steady wages to people who had farmed the land before.
But life has its cycles. People now want to know where the things they buy come from and how they are made. And the people doing the work want work that means something, that lets them use their skill and know the customers they serve. The assembly line is losing its appeal on both ends.
In the shed world, that changes everything. The big factory and the long-haul truck are no longer necessary. Craftsmen are once again building in the backyard. And the designs that were engineered narrow, low and light so they could ride a trailer are no longer a constraint, which opens up real freedom in how a shed looks and how well it is built.
That is what Urban Sheds is for. We give homeowners a real choice in how they spend their money, and craftsmen the chance to do work that matters, build relationships in their own towns, and grow a business they are proud of. If that sounds like the kind of company you would rather buy from, design your shed and meet your local builder.

Three and a half minutes on why most shed problems start with the process, not the shed.
The builders, area by area.
Each is licensed and certified by Urban Sheds, runs his own business, and builds every shed in his area himself, with his crew on the bigger builds.
