The larger building, on taller walls, for a riding mower, a bench, a loft above and a row of windows up high.

Tall Modern
Single-slope roofThe single-slope roof on a taller front wall, with a row of transom windows under the eave. The windows sit above shelf height, so the walls stay free for shelving, and the height leaves room for a loft.

Framed like a house.
Your builder frames a workshop shed the way he frames our biggest one, and Urban Sheds backs the structure for 30 years, transferable once to the next owner of your home.

Questions people ask us.
What does the loft add?
A 4-foot loft across one end of the shed: 4 feet deep by the width of the building, so 40 square feet on a 10-foot-wide shed and 48 on a 12-foot. It takes the bins and the things you use twice a year off the floor, it is its own line item in the design tool, and your builder sets it across the end wall.
Can I run power to a workshop shed?
Your builder builds the shell. A permanent line from the house is an electrician's job, so ask him at the site visit and anything he arranges goes on the estimate as its own line item. For lights, charging and a few outlets without a trench, a solar kit does it; the accessories page lists three sizes.
How long does it take?
Most builds take two or three days in your yard. Weather, the size, the roofline and the options you add can stretch that, and your builder gives you a number for your shed at the site visit.
Do I need a permit?
You pull the permit; your builder supplies the drawings, specs, and proof of insurance you'll need, and in some areas can pull it for you for a fee. Permitting runs inside the 3–6 weeks from deposit to build day and can move your build date; your builder tells you where it stands when you schedule.
What's the warranty?
Three warranties. Your builder covers his workmanship for the first year and comes back to fix anything that is not right. Urban Sheds covers the structure for 30 years as long as the shed gets about an hour of upkeep a year (we publish the checklist), and that warranty transfers once to the next owner of your home if the form is filed within 60 days of the sale. LP covers the SmartSide siding for 50 years. If your craftsman ever leaves the network, Urban Sheds connects you with another certified craftsman. For a claim, your builder answers within five business days; if you cannot reach him in ten, warranty@urban-sheds.com assigns another certified craftsman within five.
